DESCRIPTION:

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, but hospital blood supplies are consistently NOT being met. Blood Type Bots ("BTB") aims to *stop the hemmorhaging*, so to speak, by significantly improving upon today's antiquated marketing and communication methods in the blood donation industry. By monitoring blood supply levels in real-time, BTB sends text message alerts and mapped directions to nearby blood donors of a specific blood type (within a 3 mile radius) whenever their blood is needed most.

BTB started out as a simple school project, but eventually evolved into something much more significant. The idea would go on to win a number of high-profile industry awards and helped spark numerous discussions and meetings with major industry players, including Facebook. In fact, Facebook has since implemented a modified version of our idea (a non-real-time in-app notification system), helping to nudge the industry forward and hopefully saving countless lives in the process.
